HEAVY HAUL AND OVERSIZE SHIPMENTS

Heavy Haul, Oversize and Over Dimensional are sometimes used interchangeably. Some shipments may require 4 axle tractors and specialized multi axle trailers to transport the load.

Over Dimensional and Over Weight shipments are usually routed by the various states and government agencies. They  usually require  the carrier to purchase Oversize and Overweight permits  prior to entering the state or at the port of entry. Most Oversize shipments are charged at a flat fee. Where as Overweight shipments are usually charged by a per/ton, per/mile rate over 80,000 pounds gross. For Safety reasons, loads that are over 80' Long , 12' Wide and over 14' 6" High usually  require escort vehicles to travel with the load being transported. These requirements can vary from state to state.

Most states allow daylight travel only and no travel on weekends and holidays.

Scheduling is critical. Most permits have to be ordered well in advance before the item is loaded and can be transported. We require all customers to provide accurate dimensions and weight of the load to be transported to obtain these permits for them to prevent any delayed shipment.
